Magic is alive and well.  With very few problems, the 2006 Convention in Louisville was a wonderful experience and I’m looking forward to going back.  ?!—more on that in a minute. The only fly in the ointment was the decision (necessity?) of having the Stage Contest in the hotel ballroom.  Audience members sitting on the sides of the room could not see the back of the stage.  And anyone not in the first two center rows could not see anything below the performers’ waists.  What magic we could see was very good, but I was disappointed that no one on the committee thought of this. Okay, why am I going back?  In 2008, the combined SAM/IBM six-day convention was to be held in New Orleans.  Then Katrina hit.  The city is slowly rebuilding, but the theaters we would have used are beyond repair.  So the two organizations re-met and re-studied and decided upon...Louisville!  The event will still run from July 7-12, 2008, but the host hotel is now The Galt House and the special convention rate is still $99.00 single or double occupancy.  Registration is only $295 until the end of the year. Next year: We’re in Dallas, Texas! ![]() We meet old friends in the hotel lobby: Terry Seabrooke, Father Cyprian, “PJ” Campagna share a laugh with Dorrie Mitchell.
