In 2008, instead of having our normal conventions, the Society of American Magicians and the International Brotherhood of Magicians will combine to hold a six-day Magic Championship in New Orleans.  The business meeting of each group will held separately during the event.  Both organizations will share "gala stage shows, a gala close-up show, world-class lecturers, a banquet and several off-site activities."  The highlight is $10,000 in prize money each for both the stage and close-up contest winners.  The event runs from July 7-12, 2008.  The host hotel is the Marriott and has guaranteed a special convention rate of $99.00 single or double occupancy.

The 2006 convention is in Louisville, KY. The 2007 convention is in Dallas, TX.

At one afternoon session, kids (and only kids) are given a chance to meet the magical "celebrities" and get autographs.  Facing the camera on the left table is Cesareo Pelaez.

John Cassidy was a particular favorite with the youngsters.

Past National President and fashion plate Bob Steiner.

The final night?s stage show started with songs from this group who live downwind from the nuclear waste dump.
